HISTORY

10 Months for 2 Minutes

The history of the Linn-Mar Poms began in 1967 when tryouts were held. Following the tryouts, 12 girls were chosen to perform at pep rallies and basketball games. They practiced in the school halls and made their own uniforms. The girls were told it would not last long as the fad would fade.

Now, more than 50 years later, the Linn-Mar Varsity Poms are a National Powerhouse! Since 1992 LMVP has been crowned State Champions 37 times and have 10 Regional titles. Since 2003 they have placed in the top 10 at the UDA National High School Championships 22 times, including three finishes in the top three. In 2018 the Linn-Mar Poms made school and state history by placing 2nd in the nation in the Medium Varsity Pom category.

Linn-Mar Pom Alumnea have gone on to dance for college and university dance teams as well as professional sports teams.

2018 ISDTA State High School Championships

On December 1, 2017 the Linn-Mar Varsity Poms competed in the ISDTA State Championship in Des Moines, Iowa. They placed first in all three categories they competed in: Pom, Contemporary and Lyrical.

On December 2, 2016 the Linn-Mar Poms traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to compete at the 2017 Iowa Dance and Drill Team Association State Championships. The team proudly walked away with a third place in Pom, Jazz and Hip Hop!

2017 Iowa Dance and Drill Team Association State Championship - Solo Competition

On November 5, 2016 six members of the Linn Mar Varsity Poms performed their solo routines at the 2017 Iowa Dance and Drill Team Association State Championship - Solo Competition in Newton Iowa. Out of the 66 class VIII contestants, Kennedy Hannan placed 2nd, Madison Driscoll placed 4th and Cassidy Burns placed 10th. Congratulations, ladies!

2016 Stack the Stands

On October 29, 2016 seven members of the Linn Mar Varsity Poms performed their solo routines at the local Stack the Stands Dance Competition at Prairie High School. Congratulations to Kennedy Hannan for placing 2nd, Isabel Berg for placing 5th and Madison Driscoll for placing 9th in the 11-12 division and Katie Tomash for placing 5th in the 9-10 division.

2016 UDA National Dance Team Championship

Congratulations to the 2015-2016 Linn Mar Varsity Poms for their 5th place finish in Jazz and 6th place finish in Pom against the top teams in the country at the UDA National Dance Team Championships in Orlando Florida!

Linn Mar Varsity Poms had an outstanding day at the 2016 Iowa Dance and Drill Team Association State Championships in Des Moines on December 4th. The team WON both the large school Pom and Jazz categories, while also taking 3rd in the Hip Hop category! Way to go ladies!
